The Aluminium Speed Boat type LPL 03 is a unit designed to be used as work boat and for passenger transportation in coastal waters.

Its design ensures a highly efficient and inexpensive navigation.

HULL AND SUPERSTRUCTURE

HULL

Single V-shaped hull, made of naval aluminium plates complying with GL Rules.
Four watertight bulkheads subdivide the hull in five compartments:

  • Fore Peak
  • Accommodations  
  • Gasoil Tank Room
  • Engine Room
  • Aft Peak.

SUPERSTRUCTURE

Superstructure arrangement and layout are in compliance with GL, IMO and SOLAS regulations.
The wheelhouse, that finds place inside the superstructure, is provided with:

  • one watertight aluminium door with window
  • two windows on the front side
  • two windows on each lateral side.

PROPULSION AND GOVERNING SYSTEMS

The propulsion and governing systems are in compliance with GL, ABS, IMO and SOLAS Regulations. Each speed boat is equipped with two Caterpillar engines model C18 DI TA with the following characteristics:

  • Power: 671 bhp@2100 rpm
  • Loading factor: 80%
  • Ann. operation approx: up to 5000 hrs.

Each speed boat is also equipped with two Hamilton waterjets type HJ 364. Waterjets and engines are connected together by means of a cardan shaft and a flexible coupling.

Control of engines and waterjets is done from the wheel house.

BOAT SYSTEMS

All pumps are certified according to IACS, IMO SOLAS, INEA. All piping systems are in compliance with the requirements of GL Rules and good marine practice (IMO, SOLAS, INEA).

BILGE SYSTEM

Seven bilge suctions with level alarm sensors are installed in the lower part of the engine room. Seven pumps with the following characteristics are installed:

  • Type: electric driven, 24 V
  • Capacity: 10 m3/h
  • Head: 2.8 m of water column.

FIRE FIGHTING SYSTEM

One pump with the following characteristics is installed:

  • Type: electric driven, 24 V
  • Capacity: 10 m3/h
  • Head: 2.8 m of water column.

FUEL OIL SYSTEM

Carbon steel piping with filters and valves is connected to the fuel oil tank. One duplex water separator filter and one emergency quick closing valve are installed on the fuel oil tank. Each engine is provided with one duplex filter.

ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM

Engines are cooled by sea water. Each engine is provided with one circulating water pump, one expansion tank and filters according to the recommendations of the engine manufacturer.

FRESH WATER SYSTEM

One pump with the following characteristics is installed:

  • Type: electric driven, 24 V
  • Capacity: 0.8 m3/h
  • Head: 2.8 m of water column.

POWER GENERATING SYSTEM

The power generating system is designed and the electrical installation is made in compliance with the requisitions of GL, NEMA, IMO, SOLAS and INEA Regulations. The characteristics of the electrical plant are as follows:

  • Power: 13.5 kW
  • Voltage: 1 lov – 24 V – 12 V

The electrical plant includes the following main components:

  • Two 24 V alternators, driven by the main engines and connected to a set of batteries.
  • Two 12 V batteries, connected together for an output of 24 V, and connected to the main power system
  • An additional set of 12 V batteries for starting the main engines and for the lighting system
  • One shore connection
  • Two battery chargers, 24 V 50 A.

ALARM SYSTEM

The alarm system is in compliance with the requirements of GL, IMO and SOLAS Regulations. Alarms are shown in the wheelhouse and include the following ones:

  • Level – Water in Separator: High
  • Temperature – Engine Cooling Water: High
  • Pressure – Engine Lube Oil: Low
  • Pressure – Waterjets Lube Oil: Low
  • Level – Engine Cooling Water: Low
  • Level – Bilge Water
  • Fire detectors

SAFETY AND LIFE SAVING EQUIPMENT

Safety and life saving equipment are in compliance with the requirements of GL, IMO, SOLAS and INEA Regulations. They include portable CO2 extinguishers, lifebuoys, life jackets and two inflatable life rafts.
